More About Elyssa Hernandez, MA, LPC-Associate, CYT
Supervision by Melissa McGee, MA, LPC-S
In 2017, I experienced a traumatic event that led me to therapy. As I told my life story through a flood of tears, my therapist diagnosed me with CPTSD. I told her I just wanted to deal with the "event" and leave everything else packed away. She told me that wasn't possible, that I couldn't just deal with the event; I had to deal with all of the "events" that happened in my life. I trusted her, and I showed up to every session. I read books, I did group therapy, and I practiced yoga amongst other modalities. I did it all because I wanted to kick CPTSD's butt, and I did.
Because of these experiences, I found my heart rooted in helping other women not be overcome by their struggles, traumas, or stresses but to face it all and feel fierce and empowered. I'm here to help you embrace your badass warrior spirit and the tender side of the feminine. I'm here to help you see that you can get through hard things and feel hard feelings. I'm 100% here for you.
My focus is on creating a safe, reliable, compassionate, and empowering therapeutic relationship for us to explore your experiences and develop personalized strategies for your growth. In our sessions, we'll blend traditional talk therapy with innovative practices and elements of nature therapy, energy work, yoga, and simple health practices to support your journey toward making your best hopes your reality.

"She'll see the best in you and help you bring it out."
I can share with her what is troubling for me. I know she will be there for me, to witness me before jumping into creating a resolution. Even though she is a therapist, she has the ability to be human with me. She reminds me it's OK to feel in the moment and no matter how big or small the experience. She is knowledgable and can explain why things happen and the ripple effect. I love that she can tell me facts about trauma responses and what parts of the brain are affected. Elyssa has a growth mentality, which hasn't been a common experience when I've worked with other therapists. She's genuine, authentic, and honest. She'll see the best in you and help you bring it out."
